Amy Shark has cancelled her upcoming North American tour dates due to suddenly needing surgery.

Her tour dates were due to begin on Wednesday, 6 September, at Washington D.C.’s Union Stage and would have wrapped up at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles on Tuesday, 26 September.

“In recent days I’ve had some very uncomfortable painful moments and have just found out that I need surgery ASAP,” the Adore singer wrote in a Notes app post on social media this morning (9 August).

Assuring fans that she’s “all good”, Shark is keeping details on the surgery private. “I will need a month to recover, meaning I have to cancel the North American tour next month. I’m so sad right now. I’m very sorry but I need to focus on my health for a month.

“I hope you understand and I promise I’ll be back as soon as I’m recovered. Much love from sad Amy,” she concluded, accompanying the post with a picture of “sad Amy” in the flesh.

Donning a hospital gown, Shark has her thumbs down, a sad face and crying emojis around her head. We wish Amy Shark a speedy recovery and smiles ahead of this time.

At the time of writing, Amy Shark's website's only upcoming tour date is her support slot for UK legends Coldplay, who are heading to Perth for a one-off (now two shows) exclusive Music Of The Spheres concert in Australia.

In other recent Amy Shark news, the singer won the Logie Award for Most Popular New Talent in late July.

Shark was nominated for a Logie thanks to her first year as a judge on the Australian Idol reboot, which saw her on a panel alongside radio shock jock Kyle Sandilands and international singers Meghan Trainor and crooner Harry Connick Jr.

She won the award over stars on the streaming giants Netflix and Stan, including Ayesha Madon and Chloe Hayden (Heartbreak High), Love Island Australia’s Flex MamiRuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under’s Kween Kong, and Surviving Summer’s Lilliana Bowrey. “Omg I’m a LOGIE winner,” Shark wrote on social media, celebrating the win not long after she performed her latest single, Can I Shower At Yours?
