Dua Lipa wrapped up her Radical Optimism Australian tour dates on Saturday (29 March), stunning crowds at the sold-out shows with her rich vocals, engaging performances, and tributes to Aussie artists.
Each night on the tour, the British singer-songwriter performed a “surprise song” and, on the Australian run, ensured that each song she covered was recorded by an Australian artist.
She ventured through pop with renditions of Kylie Minogue’s eternal classic, Can’t Get You Out Of My Head, and Natalie Imbruglia’s cover of Torn and rock with unexpected songs like AC/DC’s Highway To Hell and INXS’s Never Tear Us Apart.
Besides the covers, Lipa was joined by special guests for four nights, paying tribute to them by performing their songs by their side. She sang Rush with Troye Sivan, Riptide with Vance Joy, The Less I Know The Better with Kevin Parker (of Tame Impala fame), and Big Jet Plane with Angus Stone.
Below is a night-by-night breakdown of the Aussie tributes and footage of the performances.
Monday, 17 March at Rod Laver Arena – Highway To Hell (AC/DC cover)
Wednesday, 19 March at Rod Laver Arena – Torn (Ednaswap cover) (Natalie Imbruglia version)
Thursday, 20 March at Rod Laver Arena – Can’t Get You Out Of My Head (Kylie Minogue cover)
Saturday, 22 March at Rod Laver Arena – Rush (with Troye Sivan)
Sunday, 23 March at Rod Laver Arena – Riptide (with Vance Joy)
Wednesday, 26 March at Qudos Bank Arena – Never Tear Us Apart (INXS cover)
Friday, 28 March at Qudos Bank Arena – The Less I Know The Better (with Kevin Parker)
Saturday, 29 March at Qudos Bank Arena – Big Jet Plane (with Angus Stone)
Following the end of her Australian tour, Lipa will head to Auckland for two shows this week (Wednesday, 2 April, and Friday, 4 April). The question is: which New Zealand artists will she pay tribute to?

Reviewing Lipa’s recent Melbourne show, The Music’s Monique La Terra wrote, “The show closed with Houdini, a bold, shimmering anthem with an assertive bassline that sounded even better live, leaving the audience with a lasting sense of empowerment. In fact, the entire night was a lesson in harnessing one’s power, with Lipa’s performance fuelling a confidence that lingered long after the final note.”
