Application Deadline Extended For AIM’s Emerging Talent Scholarships

16 December 2020 | 10:09 am | Staff Writer

"I think the future of music and the music industry will be really exciting and we want our graduates to be shaping that future.”

If you’re yet to apply for Australian Institute Of Music’s(AIM) Future Sounds Scholarship, then you’re in luck, as the application deadline has been extended.

Originally set to close yesterday, AIM has announced that applications will now remain open until January 15.

The new initiative will see AIM award five scholarships up to the value of $20,000 to help recipients study an accredited course at the institute next year, with a focus on “young future leaders across five key areas – Innovation, Indigenous, Songwriting, Performance, and New Sounds in Music”.

“The inspiration for these scholarships was to find five people who would have the talent and capacity to shape the future of Australian music and the music industry,” AIM Chairman Ed St John told The Music.

“We want the very best students to study at AIM, so this is a simple way to ensure that we’re attracting the very best.

“The industry has changed dramatically in the past year and I suspect it will keep changing. Our job is to ensure that our students are prepared for these changes, and for the challenges they will inevitably face. These scholarships offer opportunity to students who may have struggled to access quality music education in normal circumstances.
