“The health and safety of those in our music community, the live audience, and the hundreds of people who work tirelessly to produce our show remains our top priority."
With the Grammys only a few short weeks away, organisers have announced the postponement of the 2022 event.
Originally scheduled to go down on January 31 in LA, the 64th Annual GRAMMY Awards Show will not go ahead as planned due to concerns around Omicron.
The Recording Academy and CBS have stated that the decision was made “after careful consideration and analysis with city and state officials, health and safety experts, the artist community and our many partners”.
“The health and safety of those in our music community, the live audience, and the hundreds of people who work tirelessly to produce our show remains our top priority,” the joint statement reads.
“Given the uncertainty surrounding the Omicron variant, holding the show on January 31st simply contains too many risks.”
While the event has not yet been rescheduled, it’s expected a new date will be announced soon.
