Legendary musician Morrissey has found himself accused again of racism after a slur against Chinese people.The ex-frontman of iconic 80s post-punk band The Smiths is known for his animal rights advocacy and evangelical vegetarianism. In an interview to be published by Britain's The Guardian newspaper, Morrissey condemned the abuse of animal rights across China in zoos and circuses as "absolutely horrific".He has previously been slammed for his provocative comments on immigration in regards to the United Kingdom, and reignited this racism row with his recent comments. Morrissey polemically stated "Did you see the thing on the news about their treatment of animals and animal welfare? Absolutely horrific. You can't help but feel that the Chinese are a subspecies."

Alternative metal masters Deftones have released the third video from their latest album.

On Monday, Trap Them will convene in Salem, Mass. at Godcity studio with Kurt Ballou (Converge, Disfear, Black Breath) to commence recording their Prosthetic Records' debut (and third full-length album overall). This will be their first full-length to feature drummer Chris Maggio, formerly of Coliseum. The band has also launched a new blog where they will be documenting the recording process and, ultimately, the touring cycle around this as-yet-untitled album. Heavy hardcore giants, Emmure are set to enter the studio to record their fourth full-length album in the latter part of this month.  Wrapping up a Canadian tour with Hatebreed, the band will get to work with producer/engineer Joey Sturgis (The Devil Wears Prada, Miss May I), releasing the album through Victory Records.  The final release of their Victory contract, the five-piece are booked to immediately embark on the "Never Say Die Tour" across Europe with legends Comeback Kid and Parkway Drive.   This will be the latest full-length release since "Felony" in 2009. http://www.myspace.com/emmure

Massachusetts-based Defeater has been making waves in the heavy music scene since their inception in 2007. The band, known for their narrative writing style and avant-garde take on hardcore, began the recording process last week for their second full-length album. This new album (title TBA) will follow the same conceptual format as their prior releases, 2008’s Travels and 2009’s Lost Ground EP, and will be another musically precise album that will redefine the term “forward-thinking music”. Vocalist Derek Archambault said, “While I can’t give up all of the details on the storyline quite yet, let’s just say that this new album will incorporate themes and characters that the listener has been introduced to already, in addition to bringing some new stuff into the mix.
