Morrissey causes controversy over racist slur

Legendary musician Morrissey has found himself accused again of racism after a slur against Chinese people.

The ex-frontman of iconic 80s post-punk band The Smiths is known for his animal rights advocacy and evangelical vegetarianism. In an interview to be published by Britain's The Guardian newspaper, Morrissey condemned the abuse of animal rights across China in zoos and circuses as "absolutely horrific".

He has previously been slammed for his provocative comments on immigration in regards to the United Kingdom, and reignited this racism row with his recent comments. Morrissey polemically stated "Did you see the thing on the news about their treatment of animals and animal welfare? Absolutely horrific. You can't help but feel that the Chinese are a subspecies."
