In a bid to keep NSW’s thriving and rapidly evolving music ecosystem afloat and nourished, Sound NSW have opened Expressions of Interest for their newly appointed Industry Assessor Pool.
The Industry Assessor Panel will consist of up to 40 elected music industry professionals who “reflect the diversity of the NSW music industry”. Their purpose is to provide industry expertise and knowledge to help shape NSW’s contemporary music ecosystem going forward.
Members of the pool are expected to commit to a 12-month obligation, with an opportunity to extend their term if necessary. One of the many purposes of the pool involves looking over Sound NSW funding programs, reviewing the applications that are sent in for these programs, and providing advice and recommendations to Sound NSW to help finalise decisions. Funding programs could involve venue upgrades, touring, creation of new work, recording, promotional campaigns, curation and presentation of live music, skills development, mentorships, market development, research and sector development projects.
To ensure the complex needs of NSW’s contemporary music artists, music businesses and the ever-changing music scene as a whole are being acknowledged, Sound NSW is calling on a widespread, broad range of music industry professionals to apply for a seat at the table.
Anyone from music industry professionals, including (but not limited to) artists, songwriters, managers, producers, programmers, presenters, venue owners, technical support, label staff, publishers, publicists, journalists, radio hosts, content creators, and senior staff in music businesses and organisations are encouraged to send their applications in.
