As the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) prepares to hold its 40th anniversary ARIA Hall Of Fame event on Thursday, June 11th, they’ve outlined the event’s host and performers.

Taking place at Carriageworks, Sydney on June 11th, the ARIA Hall Of Fame celebration will see six stellar artists inducted into the Hall, including Kate Ceberano, Vika & Linda Bull, The Living End, Spiderbait, Jenny Morris, and Gurrumul, who will be inducted posthumously.

“This year’s Hall of Fame inductees represent the depth, diversity and enduring influence of Australian music across generations,” said ARIA CEO Annabelle Herd at the time of its announcement. “Each of these artists has shaped how Australian music is heard and understood at home and around the world.

“As we mark 40 years of the ARIA Awards, it feels especially meaningful to honour these artists whose work has defined moments in time and continues to resonate with audiences today. This is a celebration of legacy and their continued success, but also the ongoing influence these artists have on Australian music.

“This is going to be a very special night, and I am super excited to be a part of it.”

The event itself will be a special one, not only being the first Hall Of Fame occurring as a standalone affair since 2010, but also the first to be broadcast via the ABC. This broadcast will take place at 9:15pm on Saturday, June 13th on ABC Entertains and ABC iview.

Hosting this special event will be one of Australia's most respected music personalities, Myf Warhurst, whose charm, wit, and warmth makes her an obvious choice for spearheading this upcoming celebration.

“To be part of the 40th anniversary ARIA Hall of Fame is incredibly special,” says Warhurst. “These artists have shaped Australian culture, soundtracked generations and influenced how we see ourselves through music.

“From the power and emotion of Gurrumul, to the energy of Spiderbait and The Living End, and the iconic voices of Kate Ceberano, Jenny Morris and Vika & Linda, this is a line-up that truly reflects the depth and brilliance of Australian music.

“It’s going to be loud, joyful and full of unforgettable moments - exactly what the Hall of Fame should be.”

Additionally, Kate Ceberano, Vika & Linda, The Living End, and Spiderbait will all be on hand to offer a “series of powerhouse sets spanning the defining hits, anthems and career-defining moments and reflections that have shaped generations of Australian music fans.”

Absent from the performing line-up will be Gurrumul, who passed in 2017; and Morris, who announced her retirement from the world of music in 2015, citing a diagnosis of spasmodic dysphonia – a rare neurological condition which causes involuntary spasms in the larynx.

Instead, Gurrumul’s impact will be remembered via members of his family, who will dance Djarimirri, “sharing living culture with dance and continuing the storytelling traditions carried through Gurrumul’s music.”

Morris, meanwhile, will have a number of her iconic tracks performed by Dan Sultan, Mia Wray, and Kate Miller-Heidke.

First held as part of the second outing of the ARIA Awards in 1988, the ARIA Hall Of Fame seeks to canonise these artists whose "work has defined generations and contributed to the sound of contemporary Australia."

Since the very first induction, a total of 82 individuals and artists have been inducted, while one influential television program and one non-recording artist (Countdown and its host, Molly Meldrum) has been welcomed into the ranks, while one artist has been removed from the honour roll.

Only three years have not featured inductees (2000, 2021, and 2022), and since 2015, it's been a one-inductee-per-year affair. Alongside the induction of You Am I for the 2025 ceremony, it was announced that this year would see a larger list of acts welcomed into the fold part of the 40th edition of the ARIA Awards.
