For the first time in its history, AusMusic T-Shirt Day has amassed support from commercial radio stations across the country ahead of this year’s fundraising event.

From today until this year’s AusMusic T-Shirt Day – Thursday, 27 November – over 260 radio stations will dedicate airtime, advertising inventory, and on-air talent to raise awareness and donations for Support Act, Australia’s devoted charity for the music industry, which leads the annual celebration of Australian music and merchandise.

Southern Cross Austereo, NOVA Entertainment, ARN, ACE Radio Network, and Nine Radio have joined forces to support this year’s AusMusic T-Shirt Day campaign.

AusMusic T-Shirt Day was launched by Support Act, foundation partner triple j, and the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) in 2015. Since its beginnings, the annual initiative has grown to be supported by fans, artists, media and businesses across the country.

In a statement, Support Act CEO Clive Miller remarked on today’s announcement, “Australian music is central to our culture, and commercial radio plays a vital role in sharing those stories with the nation.

“We’re thrilled to have every major network join AusMusic T-Shirt Day this year to celebrate AusMusic and the people who create it – while raising vital funds for those music workers who are doing it tough.”

Rachel Campbell, Campaign Director for AusMusic T-Shirt Day, added: “This collaboration was envisioned as a celebration of the resilience and creativity of the people behind Australian music — a broad, united coalition with a clear purpose: to support the health and wellbeing of Australian music workers.”

Matthew O’Reilly, Head of Broadcast Content at Southern Cross Austereo, said: “AusMusic T-Shirt Day is a chance for the Hit and Triple M Networks to stand with our colleagues and recognise the people behind the music.”

NOVA Entertainment’s Group Programming Director Brendan Taylor commented that the organisation is “proud” to support the AusMusic T-Shirt Day initiative, while Lauren Joyce, Chief Audience and Content Officer at ARN, described the annual event as “powerful.”

Greg Byrnes, Head of Content at Nine Radio, said radio’s partnership with AusMusic T-Shirt Day can “share stories that truly matter to Australians”, and Mat Cummins, Group Content Director at ACE Radio Network, acknowledged regional radio’s role in championing local music and Support Act.

Lizzie Young, CEO of Commercial Radio & Audio (CRA), concluded: “Commercial Radio & Audio is proud to stand alongside our members to support AusMusic T-Shirt Day, using our unique connection with local communities to celebrate Australian music and the people who make it possible.”

This year’s AusMusic T-Shirt Day artist ambassadors are making waves across genres and the globe with their music. Leading the charge are The Kid LAROI, Jessica Mauboy, Troy Cassar-Daley, Missy Higgins, Bernard Fanning, Hilltop Hoods, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, and Hoodoo Gurus.

In addition to the artists mentioned above, rising stars including Lane Pittman, The Buoys, Party Dozen, C.O.F.F.I.N., and Floodlights will contribute to this year’s AusMusic T-Shirt Day campaign.
