Brooke Russell and the Mean Reds

It’s been a while between drinks but Brooke Russell and The Mean Reds are back with a new single 'Sylvia'. Released on all streaming platforms on 19th June, Sylvia is a love song to Brooke’s paternal grandmother, whom she never met, but whose memory lives on through stories told by her family.

“Sometimes those loved and admired by our family before we were born can still loom large in absentia. We learn about them through stories told by relatives, fading photo albums, and the possessions they leave behind. So is the tale of Sylvia. From all accounts, an awesome broad.”

Recorded in Mollongghip in regional Victoria at Barbershop Studios, Sylvia is produced and engineered by Joshua Barber, featuring Barber on drums and backing vocals, Tamara Murphy on bass, Matt Dixon on guitar, and Ben Franz on pedal steel.

Celebrating the launch of their first single in nine years, Brooke Russell and The Mean Reds play Shotkickers on Friday 19th June with support from Jess Parker.
