This November, Handpicked Festival returns to the South Australian town of Langhorne Creek with a strong showing of homegrown talent.

Confirming the line-up, organisers have revealed that an intergenerational line-up of pop, rock, and indie-folk will perform at this year’s festival to mark its tenth anniversary.

Adelaide’s own Guy Sebastian will headline the festival. He’s set to be joined by indie-pop singer-songwriter Kita Alexander, ARIA Hall of Famers The Living End and Missy Higgins, high-energy rock duo Old Mervs, and ARIA Award-winning blues and soul outfit, The Teskey Brothers.

The line-up announcement arrives after an unprecedented response from festival-goers to this year’s festival. Punters have already snapped up more than 65% of tickets – before a single artist from the bill had been revealed. It marks a first in the history of Handpicked Festival and is a testament to the community’s support for the event.

Handpicked Festival will take place on Saturday, 14 November, at Lake Breeze Wines in Langhorne Creek, South Australia. You can find tickets and more information on the event website.

Curated by Kate Cooper and her sister Lauren Maxfield, the pair have proved to be a force to be reckoned with in the South Australian music scene, amassing thousands of punters to their festival over the past decade.

“The concept started around my grandparents’ dining table with a pretty simple idea, to bring great Australian music to our family winery and see what happens,” Cooper said.

Year after year, the event has generated sell-out crowds, growing from a small, grassroots festival that welcomed 1,400 attendees in its first year, to one of the most-loved music festivals in South Australia.

Last year, the event brought in a record-breaking audience of 9,000 punters. Cooper added, “Ten years on, it feels pretty surreal. There’s a lot of pride, but also a bit of disbelief that it’s become what it is.

“We see people who came in 2014, now bringing their kids. We see groups who plan their entire year around it. There are some festival-goers who have attended every single festival. That level of return means you’re not just selling tickets, you’re building something people genuinely connect to.”
