"It’s the accusation of the self and the confession to the self."
Sydney post-punks Johnny Hunter have dropped their brand new searing single The Floor today - a dark, guitar-heavy jam that goes deep into the realms of introspection.
"The floor is the lowest point. The realisation that the person you’ve become is not the person you wanted to be," vocalist Nick Hutt says of the track. "When after a lifetime of casting the blame outward, the only place left to look is inward. It’s the accusation of the self and the confession to the self. The acceptance of responsibility. The rude awakening. The brute in the mirror. But above all it’s a release. It’s the clarity to know yourself well enough to see that the only way now is up."
The group also shared the news that they have officially signed to Cooking Vinyl Australia for the new release.
“Johnny Hunter was the only band Stu and I signed through the thick of last year's lockdown, having only met the guys via Zoom," Co-Managing Director Leigh Gruppetta says of recruiting the band. "I feel that really speaks to the strength of their songs and ultimately their character as people. It's always a joy to work with a band with such clear artistic vision and to now be a part of their wider team makes us incredibly excited for what the future holds.”
