Position/Title: Manager, Australian Music Radio Airplay Project (Amrap) at CBAA
How did you first become involved in the music industry and how did you end up where you are today? I took a trip across the US as a teenager, presenting Australian music on college radio then began volunteering at community radio on my return to Sydney. When the chance came to work on a national level with Australian music with Amrap after my time at 2SER, I jumped!
What's been the biggest change in the music industry you've seen over the past 12 months? Data over culture.
What do you think will be the biggest issue affecting the music industry in the next 12 months and why? The narrowing of media makes for a narrowing of culture and creates an environment where it is hard for Australian music to be nurtured and grow.
What advice would you give young practitioners in your area starting out today? Take time with whatever you do to observe what's going on around you and how you can find your way in and make an impact.
What will you be primarily discussing during your appearance at the BIGSOUND conference and what are you hoping that people will be able to learn from your panel? I'll be discussing the idea that community radio in Australia is an asset hiding in plain sight, a huge network that has nearly six million people tuning in each week with many of those people looking to hear new Australian music they can't hear anywhere else. The effect may be slow but it's accumulative and makes for valuable overall steps to take for any musician on their industry path.

Which acts are on your must-see list at BIGSOUND and why? DRMNGNOW has a vision for Australia that isn't heard often enough these days; tough and uncompromising without that just being a front. We need it. Also fascinated by the sounds of Gordon Koang and Aphir.
What advice do you have for BIGSOUND first-timers? Pace yourself, soak whatever you can up, be friendly and engage and have a bloody great time!
Assuming you've been previously, what's your favourite BIGSOUND memory? And which artist was your standout performance? Poor memory allows me to stretch back to last year when Carla Geneve ruled my world. I also loved seeing Body Type in 2017. Angie was amazing way back and Jack Ladder was another standout.
When and where is your panel: 5 Sep, Media: Radio, Crystal Palais, Cloudland, 11.45am.
