By the time Beach House uninspiringly return to the stage for their encore, many punters are already on their way out the door.

Besides some cuts and bruises on the band and a few rowdy punters, gigs don’t come much better than this.

It’s refreshing to find an Australian group who know when to rein in the jams, work as a multitalented collective and who know how to sift through a sprawling range of styles to come up with a coherent and punchy album.

Those looking for some jubilant noises and wafting melodies built on top of a grunge-influenced rhythm section, you should find the tracks to your tastes.

The Game’s very desperation for recognition has made that recognition impossible.

It does prove that there is light at the end of the mostly mundane R&B/dance/electro tunnel.

The encore ended on a heart-warming note, Let Me Be Him’s echoing catch-cry sung by all as perspiration clung to necks and strobe lights finally were dimmed.
