Album Review: LL Cool J - Authentic

So… Authentic? Okay, authentic to what? If this is an authentic representation of Smith’s vision, it is not an interesting one. Avoid.

Come confess your party sins.

Live Review: Tame Impala, Midnight Juggernauts

Psychedelic rock’n’roll magic has been cast and there’s no way we’re going straight home.

Live Review: Gignition

Each band commended the others and suggested the audience stick around for the following acts, as lead singer from Ibis Elm put it: “Gignition used to be every Sunday so let’s keep it going!”

Live Review: Flume, Chet Faker

The kiddies no doubt slept well, with the humming of the set ringing deep in all our ears.

Live Review: Folkworld Fairbridge Festival

Fairbridge remains one of the few festivals where sing-alongs are encouraged, showers are not and the juveniles are talented, not drunk. As an attendee’s t-shirt read: FOLK YEAH!

Live Review: The Kooks, Van Hoorn

The promise of an encore wasn’t enough to keep fans around, with a number of walkouts occurring long before the house lights were switched back on; a clear sign that both performances had dragged on a little too long.

Live Review: Vance Joy, Ali Barter

Joy burns through songs from his debut EP God Loves You When You’re Dancing, finishing with lead single Riptide to a very happy audience.

Live Review: The Rubens, Oh Mercy, Walk The Moon, Mt Warning

Much foot stomping and chanting gets the lads back out for the evocative Never Be The Same, and the inevitable show-closer My Gun reinforces an earlier hunch that these boys are more than just the flavour of the month.
