Three bands belting out three such performances in one night is a rare treat and a healthy start to the new year.

Perhaps it's a remedy against the back to work blues, but punters are streaming in far earlier than usual through The Tivoli doors tonight. The grand ol' gal is starting give off that familiar cosy feel soon before the first support takes the stage, no doubt all thanks to the stellar line-up on offer.

Kicking things off are Brisbane kids The Jungle Giants and it's evident the crowd houses quite a few ears keen to give the young troupe a listen. The local quartet has a massively successful year behind them and they're clearly appreciative as they get stuck into Way Back When and Mr Polite. Sam Hales' sweet vocals are spot on and the band is as sunny, carefree and rhythmic as their EPs suggest. She's A Riot goes down a treat for the closer and with a joyously playful indie-pop sound that echoes that of the headliner's, there's little danger of it going down anything but well.

A short break brings out London foursome The Vaccines with a brief hello before cracking on with No Hope. The idlers sit up as the group's dynamic force hits the insides and yet they remain tight, energetic and bags of fun with charismatic singer Justin Young belting out the fast and furious Teenage Icon and crowd winner If You Wanna, having no trouble getting the crowd onside with his entertaining banter. Cheeky closer Norgaard whips the congregation into frenzy, leaving new fans in their wake and the established feeling validated.

It's hard to believe there's a speck of carpet left to fill, but it's elbows out to catch a glimpse when Two Door Cinema Club arrive onstage amid a synth-heavy intro before busting out with Sleep Alone. Northern Ireland's geeky threesome and their drummer are a sight to behold; Alex Trimble's slight frame houses that incredible mid-range honey-dipped warble and guitarist Sam Halliday and bassist Kevin Baird absolutely thrash out some epic noise while thrashing themselves in the process. Relative oldies Undercover Martyn and Do You Want It All? are near duplicates of their originals, while newbie Wake Up has Trimble climbing on top of the bassy beat and Sun hits the nail on the head with its anthemic horn fanfare. I Can Talk and Something Good Can Work round out a near perfect set, with What You Know sealing the deal with its sublime sky-riding guitar and blistering attack and decay for the encore finale.
