The duo strips away the layers, eliminating the superfluous, deconstructing as they drill down to the basic essence of these grooves. The results provide a compelling new angle on the whole soul revival, putting a more contemporaneous spin on the idiom rather than just seeking to relive the past by recreating vintage sounds.
