After 13 years, the festival – which brings Australian and international rockers to Werribee Park, Victoria every year – is hosting its final edition. This year’s event is headlined by the one and only Jimmy Barnes and also features fellow rock icons including The Living End, Ian Moss, Baby Animals, Chocolate Starfish, and Bachelor Girl.
At the time of publication, no reason was given for One Electric Day coming to a close following this year’s event.
“After 13 fantastic years we are sad to announce that this will be the final edition of One Electric Day at Werribee Park,” event organisers wrote on social media on Wednesday (23 September).
Their statement continued, “What a ride it has been, in one of Australia's most spectacular locations. We have been honoured to present some of Australia's greatest artists: Jimmy Barnes, John Farnham, Hoodoo Gurus, Paul Kelly, The Living End, The Black Sorrows, Daryl Braithwaite and Baby Animals, just to name a few.”
The team went on to thank “everyone involved in creating this magical day” each year, as well as the “loyal fanbase” that’s supported the festival year after year. They also expressed gratitude to Parks Victoria and the Tenants at Werribee Park, saying that “it could not have happened each year without your support.”
So, One Electric Day says farewell on Saturday, 21 November, with the line-up mentioned above. Remaining tickets are available via Ticketmaster.
One Electric Day has become one of the most popular festivals on Victoria’s event calendar, previously selling out all its allocated tickets in minutes. In 2022, it expanded its reach by going interstate and, for the first time, locking in an international headliner.
The 2022 event was headlined by Suzi Quatro and travelled to New South Wales, Queensland, and Victoria.
Upon announcing the 2021 event – its first since the state’s COVID-19 restrictions came to an end – One Electric Day organiser Duane McDonald commented, “Audiences have always been so supportive of One Electric Day. It has become a really special event where we see many fans return year after year; it is like catching up with friends and family.”
