Embellished by carefree guitar frills and a rolling bassline, opener New Age Of Discovery stamps out Shoot The Sun's meandering, fuzzed-up psych-rock. Their socially conscious lyrics and engrossing haze recall a kind of Woodstock revivalism, contemporised by Eamon Stewart's lithe, amicable vocals. While the political message might be distorted beneath their washed-out guitars, the title track's moreish, upbeat melody line speaks for itself. They play Cherry Bar on 21 June.
