With the context out of the way and the hardcore punk devastation of the band’s EP pumping, one gets to the fact that Puig Destroyer is unquestionably a “gimmick” band: every song is about baseball, with the humour of the lyrics completely lost on those unfamiliar with the sport. Fortunately, the deliciously short songs are jam-packed with enough killer riffs and harrowingly raw drumming to get you moshing, whether you know the difference between a sinker and a curveball or not.
