Live Review: Bec Sandridge ‘In The Fog, In The Flame’

BEC SANDRIDGE is one of those musicians who knows they have a unique style of sound.

BEC SANDRIDGE is one of those musicians who knows they have a unique style of sound. The self-confessed shower singer from New South Wales, who has claimed a win from Triple J Unearthed, has dropped ‘In The Fog, In The Flame’, making you feel both warm and hazy at the same time.

Describing her music as “Spaghetti Disco Pop”, whatever that may mean, Bec Sandridge’s voice sounds like a kind of female Elvis Presley. Its unique, and she can sure hold a tune. Music wasn’t exactly her chosen path; it came from a chance meeting with musician Passenger in Glasgow while backpacking at 19. Instead of going back to university, Bec ended up going on tour with him. Sounds shit.

Fast forward 5 years, and the now 24 year old is gearing up to release her fourth EP In The Fog, In The Flame, named after the first track Bec Sandridge has released from it. The track is part pop, part indie, part playful synth.

Parts of ‘In The Fog, In The Flame’ have that distant sound, like what you hear when you first walk into a festival and an artist is performing at a far off stage. It’s kind of blurred but draws you in, giving out that summertime festival vibe.

In The Fog, In The Flame EP is due out later this year. Bec Sandridge will be performing at Yours & Owls Music & Arts Festival in Wollongong in Early October.
