Queensland indie rockers Bugs have announced a pair of very special shows ahead of the release of their forthcoming album, HEAD NOISE, set for release on Friday, 28 August.

The album launch shows will take place on Thursday, 10 and Saturday, 12 September, at Brisbane’s Crowbar – a venue that’s been an integral part of the band’s history. The band will be accompanied by a stacked list of special guests and provide surprises for fans.

Tickets to both shows will be available from Thursday, 20 August, at 8 am AEST. You can find tickets here.

On Thursday, Bugs will be joined by Ball Park Music’s Sam Cromack, plus local acts Supernew and Dirty Harry. On Saturday, they’ll be accompanied by Melbourne singer-songwriter Suzi, Dune Rats will perform a DJ set, and Brisbane outfits Talk Heavy and VOIID will also take to the stage.

The shows mark Bugs’ first live shows since their benefit concert, Saving A Bug’s Life, which took place last October.

That concert was in support of bassist Jordan Brunoli, who was diagnosed with stage four colorectal cancer last year and, over the weekend, said he is entering the final chapters of his life.

Peers such as Dear Seattle, Beddy Rays, Sly Withers, The Buoys, TOWNS and many others showed support for Brunoli, leading to a sold-out Tivoli.

Discussing his experiences over the past year, and working on a new record, Brunoli said, “After a year’s worth of treatment, there are no more viable medical options for me, and I have begun to enter the final chapters of my life. That’s why the release of ‘HEAD NOISE’ means so much to me.

“The two-year writing and recording journey somehow encapsulates so many moods, wins, losses and melancholic discussions… throughout all of which I could count on the fact that I was doing what I love, with those who have my back.”

HEAD NOISE follows 2016’s Growing Up, 2019’s Self Help, and 2022’s Cooties. Also in 2019, the band covered Mallrat’s Charlie for triple j’s Like A Version, which made it to #91 on the 2020 Hottest 100, and #25 on 2023’s Hottest 100 Like A Versions of All Time.

Bugs have played numerous headline shows over the years, plus performed at Falls Festival, supported Grinspoon on tour, and sold-out tours across the country, making them one of Australia’s most beloved bands.

HEAD NOISE will be released on Friday, 28 August. Pre-order/pre-save your copy here.
