Sydney underground dance guru has finally announced her debut ep, and with it shared its title track; a minimal, acid techno dreamscape.
Sydney electronic producer and underground dance guru ANDY GARVEY has finally announced her debut EP Eternal Recurrence, a 4-track 12" that has been years in the making. Due on the 22nd of March via Lobster Theremin, she's shared a taste with the EP's title track, and it's a minimal and trippy acid techno cut with some choppy breakbeat thrown in for good measure.
Andy Garvey has shown her affinity for all things dance and electronic on and off the air; she's the host and programmer for triple j's Mix Up program which has seen the likes of Mall Grab, Ben UFO and The Black Madonna spin tunes. Locally, she also hosts Pure Space on FBi Radio, showcasing the latest and greatest of Sydney's underground techno, as well as everything dreamy, broken and experimental from around the world. Off air she crafts sublime, acid-tinged minimal techno, and her debut EP comes after many years of being an in-demand performer and DJ both locally and internationally.
I absolutely love me some long-form minimal techno with an acidic edge, and 'Eternal Recurrence' delivers exactly that. A meaty kick, scattered snare and crisp ride drive an ethereal pad progression before an acid-soaked synth hook takes things to another level. Partway through the track hypes up with open half-step hats and a far-away breakbeat sample, giving the track tremendous energy while also retaining it's spacey, ambient feel. Garvey maintains this flow throughout the track, weaving elements and sounds in and out and crafting a sound that would be absolutely perfect in a smoky, neon-lit warehouse party.

After bringing life to Sydney underground techno for so many years, 'Eternal Recurrence' shows that Andy Garvey can also produce one hell of a banger herself. After a long time coming, her debut EP is hopefully the first of many releases we'll see from her; you can check it out when it drops via Lobster Theremin on March 22nd.
