Live Review: Liam Gallagher, Sshh

"You could almost feel the crowd exert a collective sigh of relief as they screamed the lyrics back to Gallagher, revelling in the fact that we could now tick this off our bucket lists."

More Liam Gallagher More Liam Gallagher

Ripping into their set Sshh let Sshh Liguz lead the show.

Her vocals screeched over a thick layer of overdriven guitars and pounding drums, emulating a classic rock'n'roll sound that conjured up images of the Sex Pistols. Liguz had the attitude to match, aggressively telling us to get moving and dance - as she knew we could, as a former Aussie.

Then following some hearty intermission singalongs, the Liam Gallagher show proceeded. All eyes were on the man in the parker (which he apparently got shit for on Twitter, which is really just feeding his ego). He let us cut our teeth and dancing shoes on Rock 'N' Roll Star before jumping into the enormous Morning Glory as the second song of the set. The crowd went, understandably, ballistic.

New tracks Wall Of Glass and Paper Crown subdued the crowd, but much to this reviewer's surprise (coming in thinking most people would be here for an Oasis show), the new songs were actually really well received. Gallagher then dedicated For What It's Worth to the English cricket team, in light of their recent performance, unable to resist a bit of tongue-in-cheek.

Old Oasis favourites were again rehashed in the form of Some Might Say - which received a roaring response - and Slide Away, while newbie Come Back To Me was welcomed with open arms.

Closer Live Forever took out this reviewer's prize for most enthusiastic performance of the evening. Mass singalongs ensued.

However, nothing could rival that of Wonderwall. It was predictable, but no one was complaining; and damn, it was beautiful. You could almost feel the crowd exert a collective sigh of relief as they screamed the lyrics back to Gallagher, revelling in the fact that we could now tick this off our bucket lists.
