Devonte Hynes (aka Blood Orange) has made his first original score for feature film Palo Alto ft James Franco.
One of the most hyped features for this years Sydney Film Festival is Palo Alto - a feature length written and directed by Gia Coppola based on James Franco's book of linked short stories sharing the same title as the film.
A coming of age entity dominated by romance, friendships and social pressures, the film has been sonically paired to the work of prodigal producer DEVONTE HYNES (also known to many as Blood Orange and Lightspeed Champion) as he has entirely scored the feature that is now available as an eighteen-track release. Titled by the scene to which they co-exist, Hynes has unveiled the sixth track, 'April's Bathroom Bummer'.
Heralded not only by Devonte Hynes' hearty vocals, but a rusty backdrop and moody brass section with a twinkly yet anxious glimmer fluttering behind it all, the production of 'April's Bathroom Bummer' houses mystery alongside a sense of social disorder. Reflective of the songs title and overall suspense of the track, you can't help but wonder what this scene entails; as the character of April is seemingly burrowing for an escape from something.
