Bock Kills Her Father

21 September 2015 | 3:06 pm | Stephanie Liew

"The complex questions about agency, patriarchy and victimhood will rattle you long after you leave the theatre."

Bock returns to her hometown to find her estranged father, and runs into a gang of women. They're wild and violent in a way that many female characters are not allowed to be; and they've got their own reasons for leading Bock to her father.

Adam JA Cass's script — the words bouncing between highly stylised and realistic; slightly jarring — shakes the tiny theatre, brought to life by mostly women: the director and her assistant, the dramaturge, the five actors (Emma Annand and Marissa O'Reilly the standouts), and production and stage managers. The complex questions about agency, patriarchy and victimhood will rattle you long after you leave the theatre.
