Will SparksAustralian DJ and music producer Will Sparks has revealed an unexpected team-up: he’s joined forces with Matt Heafy, the frontman of the American heavy metal band Trivium, for a forthcoming unnamed single.
In a teaser clip posted on social media, the music video depicts Heafy showing his clean vocal range alongside his screams. The song builds until Heafy picks up his signature Epiphone electric guitar, playing industrial metal-inspired riffs alongside Sparks’ drum and bass melodies.
Sparks is aware that it’s a shock collaboration, too, captioning the clip: “THIS FRIDAY. A collaboration you never saw coming 🤯
“A childhood hero of mine, Matt shaped the way I see and write music, just by learning his riffs on guitar. @triviumband was my world. 14 year old me would never believe it.”
In the comments, Heafy responded to the DJ’s feedback and wrote, “Thank you for the amazing words and the invite to collab! It’s an honor to call you a friend!”
He added, “WILL SPARKS + MATT HEAFY = 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘”.
The new song is scheduled for release this Friday (29 May). Check out the video below.
While Heafy has worked with an abundance of metal acts, such as the likes of DragonForce, Ice Nine Kills, and Malevolence, to name a few, it’s the first time he’s done anything in the world of EDM. It also marks Sparks’ first foray into heavy metal music.
In March, Will Sparks announced his upcoming CLASSICS Tour – the homecoming show at Melbourne’s Timber Yard has already sold out, weeks in advance.
