What So Not – the electronic music project of Australian artist Emoh Instead – has been forced to postpone a handful of shows in the US after his personal travel bag, containing his visa, was stolen from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

The DJ posted about the “traumatic” incident on social media, which happened a couple of weeks ago. Since then, he and his team have been working diligently to resolve the issue without postponing too many tour dates.

“I was at LAX and my travel bag got stolen,” he began. Explaining that he’s an “optimistic Australian,” while walking to his Uber, What So Not simply thought that perhaps the bag had fallen from the trolley.

However, he wasn’t so lucky. “Within five minutes, all my credit cards were getting skimmed,” the DJ said. “I was like, ‘Shit.’”

What So Not then outlined his ensuing fears—he had to leave the US to play some shows, but without a visa, he wouldn’t be allowed back into the country.

Due to the amount of paperwork he now must do to sort out his identification, What So Not has been forced to postpone a handful of dates in the US. In the meantime, the DJ will be heading to Europe to write new music and make the most of his time.

“Getting locked out of where you work & live is never a nice feeling,” What So Not captioned the Instagram video. “Thanks to all my friends putting me up and my team helping me the last few weeks while I’ve been stuck in limbo 🫠 Good news is I’ve got official word ADE, Seattle, Escape Halloween & SLC are all definitely going ahead.”

The shows affected right now are in Edmonton, Montana, St Louis, and Kansas City. His upcoming shows in Seattle and Salt Lake City are further away, so his visa situation should be resolved, and he’ll be able to perform at the Amsterdam event, ADE.

He continued, “Promoters should have already reached out about moving the dates to the top of next year, but please reach out to them directly for all the finer details.

“Until then, any friends out in Europe that wanna work on some tunes, HMU & see you at ADE.”

Last year, What So Not teamed up with Peking Duk to host the first-ever Bunnings Rave in Preston, Victoria, which sold out its tickets immediately.

The event featured a sausage sizzle, sold exclusive Bunnings merchandise, and offered face painting. All proceeds from the sausage sizzle and ticket sales went to Support Act.

What So Not also made headlines for compiling a list of local up-and-coming DJs to give to international touring artists during his Dance Revival tour last July.
