Ahead of Amyl And The Sniffers’ performances at one of the UK’s major music festivals, Reading & Leeds, singer Amy Taylor appeared on stage with British DJ Fred again.. in Sheffield.

Fred again.. was performing at The Forge, Sheffield, on Thursday (21 August), the night before Amyl And The Sniffers were due to appear on the Leeds Festival stage.

The DJ has been working on a new remix of the band’s song Big Dreams, from their latest album Cartoon Darkness, and Taylor brought intense energy to the stage—like she always does.

Fred again.. shared a snippet of the special moment on his Instagram, captioning the post: “this is footage of me witnessing the degree of icon that amyl is 😳

“she’s playing Leeds today so joined us in Sheffield last night. yesterday was the first time we got to meet and then we play this out for the first time. cannot waitttt to get to play it live with the full band and everything.”

As Fred again.. noted, Amyl And The Sniffers performed at Leeds Festival on Friday (22 August) and will perform at the Reading edition of the festival on Sunday (24 August).

In a recent interview with The Music, Taylor explained the inspirations behind the stormy ballad that is Big Dreams.

Revealing that she wanted the song to sound like a “spaghetti Western,” the writing of Big Dreams couldn’t help but be inspired by melancholy, as Taylor looked to where she’s lived for the last decade—Melbourne—and the impact COVID-19 and lockdowns had on the city.

“I guess that melancholia is about having big dreams and seeing people's dreams not really come true,” she explained.

“We're all getting older, and I just really hope that everybody's dreams can come true because a lot of people I know haven't yet, but when I see them doing what they're really good at, like, you know, I've got friends who are amazing performers, really good musicians or great filmmakers, whatever it is.

“When I see them doing it, I'm like, ‘Damn, you're lit. You've always been lit.’ It doesn't matter what happens; it's what you're good at, it's who you are. It doesn't matter if you get success or you don't, or you get money or you don't. That's what the beauty is: your talent.”

In March 2024, Fred again.. performed with another Australian artist, bringing Angie McMahon on stage for a rendition of Angie (i’ve been lost). Last December, the pair once again joined forces for another collaborative track, light dark light, a reinterpretation of her song Making It Through.
