Three years after sampling Angie McMahon on his track Angie (i’ve been lost), British EDM star Fred again.. has teamed up with the Aussie singer-songwriter for another collaboration.
Fred again.. just released another two tracks under the collection name, two days. On it is little mystery, a homage to John Martyn’s Sweet Little Mystery, and light dark light featuring Angie McMahon, a reinterpretation of her song, Making It Through.
For the new track with McMahon, Fred again.. highlights the emotional experience of live music, utilising phone recordings from the crowd at one of her shows.
As Angie McMahon fans know, Making It Through is the closer to her latest album, Light, Dark, Light Again. Upon its release, she said of the song’s inspiration: “Just as feelings and experiences should continue to rise and fall and ebb and flow, I think the message on this song is that everything we feel is beautiful, and also difficult, and also as it should be.”
Two days marks the end of Fred again..’s current chapter, which comprises his most recent album, ten days.

Fred again dropped ten days in September. When he announced the record in August, he said, " It’s ten songs about ten days. There’s been a lot of big, mad, crazy moments in the last year, but basically all of these are about really very small, quiet, intimate moments.”
The “crazy moments” include surprise sets at EDC Las Vegas and Glastonbury to a sold-out “unprecedented” pop-up tour around Australia.
Fred continued, “Some of them are the most intensely joyful things I have felt, and some of them are the other side of things. And some days, I don’t want to speak about loads because I’m not the only person it was an important day for, if that makes sense.”
The Music’s Michael Prebeg caught the EDM star’s performance at Rod Laver Arena earlier this year and said of the surprise Angie McMahon appearance, “For a big finale, he brings out one of his favourite singers of all time, who he is honoured to have sampled in a song. Melbourne’s very own Angie McMahon comes out to join him on stage for Angie (i’ve been lost), and it’s a very special moment as McMahon sings live on stage with him for the emotional track.”
