“It was definitely someone who had been here and cased the joint out before.”

West Perth skate shop-turned-live music venue Soggybones was broken into on Monday night, with five unidentified individuals stealing thousands of dollars worth of gear and clothing.

Security footage shows a vehicle pushing opening the gate at the end of the store’s driveway before the thieves used a crowbar to gain access to the store.

“I don’t think they expected the alarm to go off, which spooked them,” owner-operator Justin Ward told theMusic.com.au.

“They basically grabbed as much as they could and got out of there…they got away with a lot of good stuff that we carry.”

Soggybones is asking people to keep an eye out for potentially stolen items being resold.

“They took all the Soggybones stuff; we support a lot of small brands and carry a lot of brands that you can’t get in other store in Perth or even in Australia, so I guess they knew the stuff we have here is of some value; it was definitely someone who had been here and cased the joint out before."

Regularly booking shows around town at various venues under the Soggybones banner, Ward has started hosted bands in their warehouse in recent months, with boutique indie punk festival Hot Freaks (presented by The Music) set to go down Aug 27 with headline sets from GrenadiersPat ChowGunnsHorror My Friend and more.
