Gretta Ray's Debut & Kanye's Long-Awaited 'Donda' Hitting Triple J This Week

30 August 2021 | 9:47 am | Staff Writer

Here's everything coming your way.

The newest additions to the triple j rotation are set to delight music lovers this week, with a massive horde of local and international acts jumping into regular rotation.

The debut LP from Melbourne pop sensation Gretta Ray has nabbed this week's Feature Album slot - a full circle endeavour for the artist following her Unearthed High win back in 2016.

The Music got an early listen to Begin To Look Around last week, and noted, "armed with a voice heavy with wisdom and strength (and some insatiable songwriting chops to boot), it's little wonder that this new release is such an authentic and affable journey.

"Begin To Look Around is, at its heart, the ultimate coming-of-age apex, honestly crafted alongside each hurdle and heartbreak Ray herself faced along the way, while carefully packaged to complement the listener's own personal journey into adulthood."

Meanwhile, the hotly anticipated tenth studio album from Kanye West will also be seeing plenty of airtime over the next seven days, with Donda picking up this week's album spot feature.

It comes after the rapper hosted a series of listening parties in the US for Donda, which have featured a string of typically West surprises.

Plenty of new addition tracks will also make their debut of the station from today.

They include Week On Repeat by Beddy Rays, About A Girl by Kobie Dee, Love Song by Angus & Julia Stone, Winnie Crush by Merci, Mercy, Bleed by Evie Irie, Don't Go by Skrillex (featuring Justin Bieber and Don Toliver), Quiet On Set by Remi Wolf, and Edamame by Bbno$ (featuring Rich Brian)

Spot plays are also coming in hot courtesy of City Of Love by Julian Hamilton, Zoom In by Kanada The Loop, Stir The Pot by Caroline & Claude, Salt by Daine (featuring Oli Sykes), and Post-Boredom by Every Time I Die.
