The new deal comes concurrently with new single and video 'World Away'

More Tonight Alive More Tonight Alive

Sydney rockers Tonight Alive have announced a new deal with UNFD for Australia and New Zealand, marking the occasion with new single and video World Away.

The signing is a boon for UNFD, whose Head Of Recorded Music, Luke Logemann, enthused in a statement: "We’ve been big fans of Tonight Alive as people and as a band for quite some time now, so working with them is a dream come true."

"The new music they’re writing is beautiful and brilliant, and we can’t wait for the world to experience it," he said.

Not content to stop there, the band have also revealed that they have signed in all other territories with respected US label Hopeless Records as they make plans to begin recording their fourth studio album in the near future.

The signings are a bit of a coup for both UNFD and Hopeless, given that Tonight Alive had, for their first three albums, been a part of Sony Music Australia's local label roster (and, internationally, Fearless Records, which recently became a subsidiary of Universal).

However, it appears that affiliation has reached its end, with Sony no longer featuring the band on their Artists page, nor the band mentioning the label on its online channels.

World Away was produced by Dave Petrovic (The Other Side, The Edge) and marks the first taste of what's to come from the band on their forthcoming full-length, with vocalist Jenna McDougall describing the song as a "continuation of our quest for self-understanding and empowerment, but this time through developing a personal relationship with darkness".

"In a society that conditions us to suppress and shy away from confronting emotions, we wrote an invitation in World Away to shake hands with what scares us most and begin recognising the opportunity for growth in struggle," she said in a statement.
