Another huge win for Tones & I!

More Tones & I More Tones & I

If you thought that things would be quietening down for Tones & I (real name Toni Watson) anytime soon, you'd be heavily mistaken with the Australian artist today smashing a huge international record.

Watson has now beaten Olivia Newton-John for the title of longest running #1 song from an Australian artist on the UK charts for her track Dance Monkey.

Newton-John had held the record since 1978 with You're The One That I Want (recorded with John Travolta) from the Grease soundtrack.

Dance Monkey is now in its 10th week at the top of the UK singles chart, which also sees Watson now tied with Whitney Houston's 1992 classic I Will Always Love You and Rihanna's 2007 hit Umbrella for the longest-running #1 single from a female artist.

If Watson holds the top spot for another week, she'll beat both Houston and Rihanna's record and be tied with Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee's Despacito (feat. Justin Bieber) at 11 weeks.

If she keeps the top spot for a total of 16 weeks, she'll be tied for the longest-running consecutive #1 in UK history with Bryan Adams' (Everything I Do) I Do It For You from 1991.

Watson picked up a stack of awards at this year's ARIA Awards including Best Female Artist, Best Pop Release, Breakthrough Artist and Best Independent Release. Check out all the other winners here
