blink-182 ProfileAfter last week's very public falling out, fans could be excused for thinking they'd heard the last of blink-182 as far as guitarist Tom DeLonge's involvement was concerned. However, it seems the ousted founder may have some final words — or tunes — regarding the matter after all.
Taking to Facebook overnight, DeLonge - who has filled a lot of his non-blink-related time over the past decade with alt-arena-rock outfit Angels & Airwaves - posted two 15-second, low-quality snippets of unidentified songs that certainly carry a compelling argument for blink believers, alongside the hashtags #SongsWithoutAHome and #March1st (and, on one, #Tom).
The first track's instrumentation (there are no vocals) objectively carries an obvious blink-182-style aesthetic, while the second snippet sounds decidedly less like the renowned pop-punk trio but features some vocal work from DeLonge and a back-up vocalist who could - could - be blink-182 bandmate Mark Hoppus, though it's a little difficult to tell given the quality and length of the clip. Although "these are absolutely unreleased blink-182 songs" has become the reigning theory among internet commentators, with the #March1st hashtag being posited as a potential release date, there are alternative ideas about the songs' purpose, including that they are indeed Angels & Airwaves songs, or something DeLonge cooked up for an entirely separate side or solo project.
One thing is almost certain, though - we probably won't find out one way or another until 1 March or thereabouts.
