Saturday, January 25 marked a major musical countdown: one hundred songs revered by Australian listeners to be celebrated live on air.
Yes, triple j’s Hottest 100 Tracks of 2024 took place - but more importantly for Adelaide music-lovers Three D Radio’s Top 93+7 tracks were unveiled over the course of the day.
Three D Radio is a beloved community radio station, first established in 1979. The station has enjoyed a long tradition of supporting local artists: strict quotas ensure that at least 40% of the content played must be Australian music, of which half must be local South Australian releases.
Last weekend, Three D Radio was proud to continue to amplify the art of South Australian musicians. Their countdown of most played releases in the past year was majority South Australian, featuring eighty-two songs from local artists. Quite the turnout, indeed.
Garage punk outfit Cull The Band saw the most features on the countdown, with three separate releases. Other artists with multiple features on the countdown included Any Young Mechanic, Ricky Albeck, Pine Point, Mince For Vince, Dom Sensitive, Sons of Zoku, Sacrificial Larynx, Molly Rocket, and The Genevieves.
As the station counted down to the coveted #1 spot, they interviewed musicians lucky enough to be included in the chart.

The top three spots were all local releases.
#3 was Oxalis, the debut release of indie rock darlings Swapmeet. The band also took home the award for Best Song at the SA Music Awards for the album’s leading single Ceiling Fan. Suffice it to say, the past year has been a stellar one for Swapmeet.
#2 was Adore You, the second single from post-punk/shoegaze four-piece The Genevieves. The track is heady and brooding, a sure indicator of great things to come for the band.
The #1 spot of the countdown was nabbed by Endless, the second album from rock band Sons of Zoku. They are revered for their raw, psychedelic sound.
Three D Radio’s 93+7 Countdown was a fitting end to a stellar year of South Australian music - and there’s no doubt that the community is grateful to Three D Radio for being so committed to celebrating and supporting it.
