The xx, Bonobo, Flo Morrissey & Matthew E White, Sepultura, The McClymonts and more

The xx  I See You (Young Turks/Remote Control)

The trio's first album after four years sounds "brighter than ever before" with "a more maximal approach" than before. "Orchestral detail" in songs like Dangerous with its "tight fanfare of horns" and Say Something Loving's "carefree falling-in-love vibe" keeps things upbeat, though the songs still embrace "the vulnerability and intensity of emotion". We gave it three-and-a-half stars and Album Of The Week. We also reviewed the album track-by-track here.

Bonobo — Migration (Ninja Tune/Inertia)

"Migration drifts across time and place with a subdued sense of wonder" and showcases Bonobo's "mastery in producing seductive soundscapes that sooth as they massage". With features from Nick Murphy (fka Chet Faker) and Nicole Miglis, occasionally there are "more exotic influences" on the mix in Grains and Bambro Koyo Ganda. We gave it three-and-a-half stars.

Flo Morrissey & Matthew E White Gentlewoman, Ruby Man (Glassnote/Liberator)

This covers album is the perfect soundtrack to your summer evening, because "rarely can two people take such an eclectic mix of tunes and distil them into a singular sound". With covers of Frank Ocean's Thinkin Bout You, James Blake's The Colour In Anything and Leonard Cohen's Suzanne, the arrangements allow us to "explore some beautiful songs and artists". We gave it two-and-a-half stars.
