With the 2015 National Indigenous Music Awards (NIMAs) fast approaching on Saturday, 25 July, NIMA have announced the finalists that will be battling it out for the Artist Of The Year and Album Of The Year awards.

Darwinian songstress Jessica Mauboy, Dan Sultan and Briggs, both Victorian-born, and NSW folk singer Thelma Plum are all among the finalists for Artist Of The Year, while Sultan, Plum and Briggs will find themselves on the Song Of The Year finalists list, along with Emma Donovan.

Frank Yamma, who will also be premiering three new songs at the awards, is one of the contenders for Album Of The Year, along with East Journey featuring Yothu Yindi, Briggs and Donovan. 

Other awards that will be crowned on the night include National Film Clip Of The Year, National Cover Art Of The Year, National New Talent Of The Year and Community Clip Of The Year.

Mark Smith, Executive Director of MusicNT and the NIMAs, said,"This year's finalists offer a diverse breath of fresh air within the mainstream music industry."

The NIMAs will be hosted by journalist and presenter Malarndirri McCarthy as well as cabaret comedian Kamahi Djordon King
