The Veronicas Make Top 50 Debut On UK Charts

Aussie-bred sibling outfit The Veronicas have seen their self-titled comeback record make a top-half entry in this week's UK-based Official Albums Chart Top 100, seeing their third full-length enter the list at #49.

It's a strong debut for the sisters' first release since 2007's Hook Me Up, though perhaps not quite as incendiary as expected or hoped; however, given the fact that Sia's 1000 Forms Of Fear remains the only other antipodean artist to be hanging around on the ladder at all, much less below the #50 mark (she's at #22 this week, down from #19), it's nonetheless an impressive entry point for the veteran performers.

Somewhat unsurprisingly, Kendrick Lamar's new LP To Pimp A Butterfly claimed top spot, knocking the award-winning Sam Smith off his perch with In The Lonely Hour dropping to #2, while other strong new entries come from Mark Knopfler (Tracker, #3), Van Morrison (Duets — Re-working The Catalogue, #5), Marina & The Diamonds (Froot, #10), Sleeping With Sirens (Madness, #26), Modest Mouse (Strangers To Ourselves, #28) and Tobias Jesso Jr (Goon, #45).
