It’s a case of déjà vu all over again for fans of The Jesus Lizard, who have announced the cancellation of their latest round of Australian shows.
The revered Texan noise rock outfit announced the news on Tuesday, August 5th, explaining that the remainder of their 2025 tour plans – including shows in Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and the US – have been axed due to health reasons.
“Upon the advice of medical professionals following a serious health incident affecting one of the band members, it is considered necessary as a precautionary measure,” the band explained.
“The band would like to convey their apologies to disappointed fans and emphasize that the affected member’s prognosis is excellent,” they added. “Your understanding and support are very much appreciated as always.”
The band closed by noting that all ticketholders will be receiving refunds due to an inability to “currently project replacement dates.”

The Jesus Lizard first formed in Austin, Texas in 1987, with the group’s incendiary, energetic breed of noisey alternative rock swiftly making them an underground success. Alongside a string of albums and EPs, the band also issued a split single in 1993 with a height-of-their-fame Nirvana.
The group would split in 1999 following the release of the previous year’s Blue album. A short-lived reunion took place between 2008 and 2010 before a second reformation occurred in 2017. That last one has since stuck, with the band even going to far as to release their first album in 26 years – Rack – in 2024.
First announced in May, the forthcoming run of tour dates was set to be the band’s first visit to Australia since 1998, though they had previously announced a return to the country in 2013 as part of All Tomorrow’s Parties’ Release The Bats concert in Victoria. This tour was ultimately axed due to “unforeseen circumstances.”
No further details have been released thus far about the band’s future touring plans, and The Jesus Lizard currently have no other dates planned beyond 2025.
