One of the most eagerly anticipated tours of 2013 for fans of underground rock'n'roll has been cancelled, it was announced this afternoon, as The Jesus Lizard confirm they will no longer be coming to Australia.

The band were set to perform at the ATP Release The Bats showin Victoria next month, but due to "unforseen circumstances", will no longermake the trip. A statement was issued this afternoon that reads as follows:

"The Jesus Lizard regret to announce they are no longer able to come to Australia/NZ for their October dates due to unforeseen circumstances. They hope to make it down to Australia in the near future."

Organisers are believed to be seeking a replacement band that will be announced in the coming weeks.

The festival also features acts such as The Breeders, Television, The Scientists, Fuck Buttons, Lightning Bolt and Sleep.
