The veteran LA-bred punkers hit southern shores at last

Legendary pop-punk forefathers The Dickies have announced that they'll be leaving the comfortable surrounds of Los Angeles to embark on their maiden journey to Australia and New Zealand for a seven-date run of shows — three here, four across the ditch — in April next year.

Melburnian audiences will be the first Aussies to catch the band — who still boast two founding members in Stan Lee and Leonard Graves Phillips — on home turf since their inception almost forty years ago on April 16, at the Evelyn Hotel, supported by Nursery Crimes, before The Dickies treat Brisbane the next evening at the Prince Of Wales Hotel, and wrap up in Sydney on April 18, once more with Nursery Crimes, at Hermanns Bar. From there, they jump to New Zealand to hit Dunedin, Christchurch, Wellington and Auckland.

Oft-cited as indelible influences on consequent torch-bearers of the form such as blink-182 and NOFX, The Dickies have been plugging away for a solid 38 years, winning fans around the world for their energetic covers of classic-rock hits such as ParanoidNights In White Satin and Eve Of Destruction as well as evergreen original favourites GigantorI'm OK, You're OKYou Drive Me ApeKiller Klowns and Banana Splits, all of which are all but guaranteed to make their live debuts when the band touch down next year.
