The Brave Unleash New Single, 'Ethereal'

A new epoch has begun. 

Doing what they first did on their debut full-length, 2016's 'Epoch', and in taking that to a higher yet better extreme, The Brave have today released their mighty fine new single, 'Ethereal'.

'Ethereal' is the band's personal response to a global climate hell bent on its own self-destruction; one they feel is deeply sick with toxic greed. Of course, a song like this won't change the world as a whole, but for some listeners out there, it'll allow some kind of comfort and closure among a bleak and weary world.  On the concept that's washed over every single inch of 'Ethereal', vocalist Nathan Toussaint explains that "This is a story of a world that lost its way. Taken over by mindless and heartless beings, completely consumed by their own greed for power and hate".

The Brave frontman also adds that "We took a totally different approach to writing 'Ethereal' not just musically but also lyrically. This really helped us to get a song that is quite different to our older work and is a real step forward to where we want to take our sound.” In terms of that creation process, earlier this year, The Brave ventured down to Melbourne for a little catch-up and fine tuning session with Northlane's mask-wearing guitarist, Jon Deiley, before heading into the studio to record with Ocean Grove mastermind, Sam Bassal. Musically, 'Ethereal' shows a slightly different pace and tone from their debut LP while still bearing some of that record's hallmarks. On the surface level, the sonic screws of their familiar yet massive choruses, various melodic layers have been tightened well enough, with further weight and impact being added their heavier moments as well. But perhaps the biggest differences occur here with the added depth in the guitar layering as well as Toussaint's screaming and clean singing; both of which sound like they've come along very nicely since their last release.
