Survive team up with a visual collaborator from New York and local chef

The synth masters behind the Stranger Things soundtrack, Austin outfit Survive have teamed with Sugar Mountain for the return of the festival’s “immersive restaurant experiment”, Sensory.

The experience brings together masters of taste, sight and sound to explore the correlation between the senses and give punters a tactile and interactive journey, making its debut last year with Cut Copy, Bomba and Tin & Ed.

It’s second stint during Sugar Mountain, on Jan 21, will feature an exclusive soundtrack from Survive, while esteemed New York-based artist Daniel Arsham signs on as a visual collaborator and local talent/acclaimed Collingwood chef Peter Gunn (who opened IDES in Melbourne in 2015) curates the menu.

“When I opened IDES I put as much thought into the music, the interiors and the lighting as I did the food because for me, all of those different aspects are vital in creating a great dining experience,” Gunn said.

The unique endeavour will feature a 60-minute, set menu narrative at Victorian College of the Arts the same day as Sugar Mountain, with tickets available for Sensory’s multiple sittings available this Wednesday, Nov 16, at 8am via the festival’s website, with all other info available in theGuide.

The announcement fittingly coincides with Sugar Mountain’s mouth-watering eat and drink line-up, with vendors Kong BBQ, Mr. Miyagi, 8bit, Lazer Pig, Pidapipo and Pretty Mama dishing up food, while The Top, Sample Brew and Industry Beans deliver the drinks aspect to accompany performances from headliners Blood Orange, Pantha Du Prince, Jessy Lanza, Little Simz and more.
