Taylor Swift Breaks Aus Chart Record

Taylor Swift has just broken an Australian chart record with six of her albums in the top ten, dominating the entire top five, setting a new record for the ARIA Albums Chart. That’s what we call the Eras Tour effect.

The record for dominance in the top five was previously held by Michael Jackson, who had the top three albums on the ARIA Charts the week after he passed away in 2009.

Midnights has returned to #1 for a 13th non-consecutive week as her Australian stadium run has completely sold out. The Anti-Hero touting album is followed by Lover at #2, 1989 at #3, Reputation at #4, Folklore at #5, and Red (Taylor’s Version) at #9. With Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) released yesterday, will that album only add to the Taylor wash on the ARIA Charts next week?

Further on the ARIA Albums Chart is more Taylor Swift – 2020’s evermore sits at #14, Fearless (Taylor’s Version) is at #16, and Speak Now at #18. The only Taylor Swift album that isn’t currently charting in Australia is her 2006 self-titled debut. Midnights is also #3 on the ARIA Vinyl Albums Chart.

While Olivia Rodrigo’s comeback single, vampire, has shot to #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart, there’s more Swift on the Singles Chart with Cruel Summer (from 2019’s Lover) in second place and Anti-Hero and Karma breaking into the top ten.

Yesterday, Swift dropped the highly anticipated Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) after surprise announcing the release on stage in early May. Breaking the news on stage in Nashville, she guided her fans’ attention to a huge screen: "If you can direct your attention to that screen back there", Swift proclaimed as the date, 7 July, was revealed.

Last month, Swift revealed the tracklist for Speak Now (Taylor’s Version), which features re-recorded renditions from the original release, including the hits Mine, Dear John and Mean. She also unveiled two special guests who will lend their artistry to From The Vault tracks: Fall Out Boy (on Electric Touch) and Paramore's Hayley Williams (on Castles Crumbling).

The Australian dates of Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour will kick off on 16 February 2024 in Melbourne and 23 February 2024 in Sydney with special guest artist Sabrina Carpenter.
