Sydney’s legendary EDM club Chinese Laundry is re-opening later this month (June 28) following a four-year hiatus.
Known for its dedicated rave rooms, the venue has been a hallmark on Sussex Street from 1996, and has been curating local talent since then. From Flume to Dom Dolla, Chinese Laundry has had a hand in platforming some of the biggest Australian DJs we’ve seen. The club has also hosted international stars like Sasha, Jeff Mills and Goldie.
This re-opening will come under the oversight of Nergal Youkhana, the curator behind Melbourne Sub Club, who plans to bring a fresh approach to music programming.
The newly revamped venue will boast state-of-the-art Martin Audio systems, redone DJ booths, minimalist lighting and, of course, its renowned rave rooms.
Punters can expect a solid mix of local crew takeovers, curated sets by industry figures, label showcases and exclusive album release parties.
Chinese Laundry will re-open Friday June 28, with a stacked line-up for their opening weekend. Perth’s YIKES will be headlining the Laundry section on Friday alongside Melbourne’s Moopie and locals Grac and Tom Witheridge, while the Cave section will feature sets by Jas Peters, Justin Muscat, Zuko and Heads.
Saturday’s (June 29) line-up is just as good, with Malafunkt and Banno co-headlining Laundry with support from ATTU, Ayebatonye, Crecensdoll and Natalie Lawrence. Cave will host Jungist, ISA, Monako, Ubermoon, and Alec Sander.
Tickets for Chinese Laundry’s opening weekend go on sale Monday June 24 via Moshtix, with early-bird tickets set for $21.15 and GA tickets priced at $26.25.
