Sydney Club Forced To Remove Porn & Drug Imagery From Advertising

They should have seen this coming.

Sydney venue Home Nightclub has had a promotion banned by the Office Of Liquor, Gaming & Racing for depicting imagery of illicit drug use and explicit sexual activities.

The Cockle Bay Wharf establishment has been forced to remove a Facebook video promoting their event 'Blow' which includes images of a man snorting cocaine, as well as offensive and explicit sexual activity. The club will be fined $5500 and also given a strike under the Three Strikes disciplinary scheme if the video is not taken down.

OLGR Director of Compliance & Enforcement Anthony Keon said of the incident: "It is extremely inappropriate and irresponsible for any licensee to rely upon the promotion of illicit drug use and explicit sexual imagery to promote its business."

"Licensees are required by law to adopt responsible attitudes and practices."

Keon was appalled by Home Nightclub management's actions, considering that the venue is already on Sydney's violent venues list.

"The indifference displayed by this venue’s management about this promotion suggests they are completely out of touch with community expectations which is of extreme concern..."

The news comes in the midst of the OLGR also dealing with rival Sydney venue, The Imperial Hotel, which is currently fighting to keep its doors open.
