Phil JamiesonPhil Jamieson, frontman of the beloved Australian rock band Grinspoon and acclaimed solo artist in his own right, has opened up about the fiscal realities of being a touring artist in 2026.
And despite the struggles artists face, he’s also aware of the ongoing cost-of-living crisis, capping ticket prices at $50 for his upcoming tour.
In a recent interview with Sunshine Coast Daily, published yesterday (28 May), Jamieson explained that the songs from his new solo record, 10Charlie, were written during and following a massive Grinspoon tour, which he’s since admitted was “not fiscally responsible.”
The singer added that, despite the difficulties artists face in breaking even on tours, he’s been determined to keep ticket prices reasonable so people can come and catch his tour and support regional venues.
“It might look like it’s raining money, but I’ve actually kept it cheap — I think the prices are $50,” Jamieson said.
A cursory glance at ticket prices at one of his Victorian shows confirms Jamieson’s statement, with general admission tickets costing $50, a GA Ticket & Digital Download Bundle for $52, and for those interested in a GA Ticket & Vinyl Bundle, that’s going for $121.90.

He continued, “So, I’ve tried to keep, as far as from my end is concerned, ticket prices as competitive as possible so people can still enjoy maybe a schooner plus coming to see me.”
Jamieson announced his 40-date PJ AIR national tour dates in April. From Thursday, 11 June, to Saturday, 12 September, Jamieson will embark on one of his most ambitious solo tours to date, playing in venues in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, Tasmania, Western Australia and the Northern Territory.
He’s touring in support of his forthcoming album, 10Charlie, which is set for release on Friday, 14 August.
10Charlie has been described as Jamieson’s most “personal and direct” album. Working with producer Oscar Dawson (Holy Holy, Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers) and securing collaborations with Davey Lane, Rob Muinos, Ben Edgar and Soph Ozard, the album turns from introspective to furious.
“This album is much more personal than my first record. In times of intense turbulence, I’ve written what I’ve needed to hear,” Jamieson said. “It’s a balm for my soul. 10Charlie is a boarding pass. You are not in the exit row; your luggage can be stored under the seat in front of you. Please follow all cabin crew directions and fasten your seat belt for take-off.”
