Snoop Dogg is set to be the subject of a biopic heading our way in 2027.

On Wednesday (15 April), he appeared at the Las Vegas CinemaCon, where he revealed that production of the biopic will be underway later this year, with the movie set to land in cinemas in 2027.

Who’s playing the young Calvin Broadus Jr. on his way to becoming Snoop Doggy Dogg? Outer Banks star Jonathan Daviss. Additionally, Craig Brewer (Hustle & Flow) has been confirmed as the movie’s director, and Brian Grazer, who produced the beloved Eminem film, 8 Mile, is set to serve as producer, Billboard reports.

“I wish I could give you more details. We’ll be back at CinemaCon next year with a trailer,” Snoop said at the Las Vegas event, per Deadline.

USA Today reports that Snoop Dogg also noted that his forthcoming biopic – titled Snoop – will be rated R. He explained, “After my brothers told their story in Straight Outta Compton, it’s my turn.”

N.W.A.’s 2015 biopic, Straight Outta Compton, featured LaKeith Stanfield portraying Snoop Dogg.

Snoop Dogg has been dropping records for over three decades – his debut LP, Doggystyle, was released in 1993. His latest release, 10 Til Midnight, dropped earlier this month. In addition to his music, Snoop has been the correspondent for NBC’s Summer and Winter Olympic Games coverage – 2024 and 2026, respectively – and a coach on The Voice US for seasons 26 and 28.

Last year, Snoop Dogg returned to Australia to headline the AFL Grand Final pre-game entertainment.

Bringing “top dog mentality”, Snoop Dogg kicked off the official pre-game entertainment show with The Next Episode, strutting onto the field alongside a matching band to a stage where Tash Sultana was shredding.

Nuthin' But A "G" Thang and Drop It Like It's Hot were up next, with dancers featured on the impressive stage alongside the rapper, before pyro was unleashed for Down 4 My N’s. Sultana took the spotlight again in Sweat.

The performance also saw Jessica Mauboy join the show for Beautiful and Baker Boy play yidaki on Still D.R.E.. Other songs on the setlist included Signs, Gin And Juice and closer Who Am I (What’s My Name)?.
