'The Night Does Not Belong To God' could very well be the start of a new album for Sleep Token.
Following up 2018 singles, the stunning 'Jaws' and the organ-driven, mourning tribute of 'The Way That You Were', 'The Night Does Not Belong To God' is another familiar sounding but uplifting ritual from the mysterious U.K. group, Sleep Token. Focusing heavily on their love for layers, defining and detailed synth-work, and Vessel's always-sweet, dulcet vocals, the anonymous band expertly leave in proggy drum grooves and huge guitar lines as this lavish new piece better unfolds like a wonderful choral hymn. It's another solid example of their consistent delicate-meets-crushing dynamic, and one they pull well: this all being emotional, dramatic, blissful, foreboding, forlorn, and hopeful. 'The Night Does Not Belong To God' floats like stars on an oceanic space, crashing down like a mighty heaven upon the lowly earth.

As for when a debut album may arrive, some clued-in fans and internet sleuths have pieced it all together: Sleep Token are going to be releasing twelve new songs up until November, one new track every fortnight. There are also twelve different symbols found on the left and right sides of their official website, and clicking the first highlighted one on the left reveals 'The Night Does Not Belong To God'. If that's the actual case, and these will link each new song as they come out, that's some clever bit of marketing right there, the kind that works well into the band's cryptic aesthetic and ideological undertones.
